Happy Labor Day, John!
Today, we recognize the ongoing struggle for labor rights in our country and honor the countless union organizers and activists who have fought tirelessly to secure those rights.
Growing up poor and watching my mom and grandparents work around the clock just to scrape by, the Labor Movement is personal to me. I will always stand arm in arm with every worker, union, and labor organizer to advance higher wages, better working conditions, and an economy that benefits the many over the few.
That’s why I supported pro-labor legislation like the PRO Act and the Raise the Wage Act when I was in Congress. On the Education and Labor Committee, I fought for pro-worker policies that uplifted working people in the Lower Hudson Valley.
Unions and the Labor Movement are our frontline defense against low wages, unsafe working conditions, rising wealth inequality, and discrimination. Nothing is a more powerful force for progress than workers linking arms in solidarity. That’s why I’m honored to be endorsed by so many labor unions, including AFL-CIO, 1199SEIU, American Federation of Government Employees, Communications Workers of America, New York State Nurses Association, New York State Public Employees Federation, and New York State United Teachers.
I owe my campaign to the countless labor organizers and activists who came before me, and I vow to continue the fight for labor rights and worker dignity now and always.
In solidarity,
Mondaire
