Happy Labor Day! Team Stein/Ware
hopes you’re enjoying a fun celebration of the end of summer today.
But we want to take a moment to remind you that labor deserves much
more than a day off of work - labor deserves power through unions and
living wages.
Over 60% of working people are
living paycheck to paycheck. Real wages have stagnated for over a
generation as wealth keeps being funneled away from working people and
into the hands of the 1%. Modest wage gains haven’t kept up with the
cost of living. Americans are more vulnerable than ever because the
duopoly politicians have prioritized the greed of their big donors of
war and Wall Street over the needs of working people.
A Stein-Ware administration will
fight to put the power back in the hands of workers. Jill and Butch
are committed to passing a $25 minimum wage, abolishing “right-to-work
for less” laws, and expanding workers' right to unionize to include
domestic, agricultural, and so-called “gig” workers.
Jill and Butch will implement
universal rent control, so that workers aren’t forced to spend as much
as 50% of their wages just to keep a roof over their heads, and pass
Medicare For All to slash healthcare costs and render medical
bankruptcy obsolete.
