First things first: THANK YOU.
This is the SECOND month in a row that we've raised our grassroots fundraising goals because this team has blown past the first one. My finance team suggested we try to raise another $6000 above our goal – and I'm proud to report we exceeded that and raised $8037!
Every time we exceed our fundraising goals, it means the world to me.
Yes, because we need to raise a LOT of money to compete with Brian Fitzpatrick's war chest filled with MAGA dollars. But also because:
A) I come from humble beginnings. I remember pouring water on my cereal as a kid because we couldn't afford milk that month. I joined the Army at 17 as a way to afford college. I don't have a trust fund and a long list of prep school buddies to fund this campaign.
B) I'm not accepting a cent from corporate PACs. It's really important to me to represent people, not special interests. And part of living up to that is making sure people, not special interests, are fueling this campaign.
Both of these things make fundraising harder for me than your typical candidate. But I believe they're also the exact same reasons I'll make a great representative – Congress has enough corporate-funded rich kids making decisions for all of us. We need more folks who know what it's like to struggle at the table.
I'll always fight for the underdog, because I am one. I'll always fight for our freedoms, because I did the same thing on the battlefield. And I'll always put the working families of PA-01 first – not special interests - because that's who funds this campaign.
Happy Labor Day – may it be filled with rest and reminders of all that unions have done to build the American middle class.
Thanks for being in this fight with me as my co-pilot,
Ashley 🚁
