All of us at the Democratic Party of Virginia hope you are enjoying the Labor Day weekend with friends and family.
It's been quite the summer for Democrats — so please take some time to relax before we hit the ground running for the home stretch leading up to Election Day!
We also hope you will take a moment or two today to honor the workers — past and present — in the labor movement for this holiday.
Their dedication to improving life for all of us over the decades means that in 2024 we enjoy higher wages, an eight-hour workday, safer working conditions, child labor laws, unemployment insurance, Social Security, and worker health and safety laws.
These accomplishments were hard won, team, and came at a high cost.
It's crucial that we defend what the labor movement has achieved. Today, there are those who are determined to dismantle unions and strip away the protections for workers that were hard-fought for by labor activists. We cannot let this happen.
As we enjoy this Labor Day holiday, let's not forget the ongoing work by unions to defend workers. Let's make a commitment to stand with them in the days ahead and be a strong ally for the labor movement.
