As countries and peoples are unequally coping with the pandemic, more than ever we need to unite and mobilise for tax justice and to fight gender inequality. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA), an ambitious set of commitments for gender equality adopted in 1995. We are also at a 5-year milestone into the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

But where are we on #TaxJustice for #WomensRights? We invite you to a safe tour around the world to check out the highlights of our 4th edition of the Global Days of Action to Make Taxes Work for Women.
GLOBALLY

Due to the Covid-19, the UNCSW was shortened, so the discussions about financing gender equality went on virtually: Our tax and gender working group organized a webinar with speakers from Christian Aid, TJNA, FOWODE, Shirakat and PSI to analyse the progress in the BPfA agenda.

ASIA

Women hawkers in India marched to demand the government to Make Taxes Work for Women. They also participated in a training on tax justice, women's rights & gender justice. In the Philippines, women & other sectoral groups organised a sound barrage within a 500-people march to protest against abusive corporate tax policies and call for more spending on social services.

WOMEN & TAX STORIES

Each country has its specific tax context, but they all have one thing in common: women are the most impacted by tax injustices. We are designing stories to raise awareness on the importance of financing women's rights and we need your contribution to add more stories from across the globe.

AFRICA

In Africa, community mobilizations unleashed the creativity of grassroots movements in their “Make Taxes Work for Women!” campaign actions. Activities engaged taxpayers in Kenya, women market vendors in Sierra Leone, young leaders in Uganda, and more!
