Like any good campaign, we have a good idea of the number of votes we'll need to receive in order to win.
We look at past elections, we look at survey data, and we come up with a number campaigns call a "win number," and then we build in a buffer in case turnout is higher than we expect.
That number is our North Star.
From there, we put together a plan to reach that number. That plan includes the number of people we need to persuade to vote for me, and the number of people we think support me who need a push to get to the polls.
We also have a good idea of what it will cost to do those things. That's how we create the budget.
1. What is the number of votes we need to win?
2. How do we get to that number?
3. What will it cost?
Then, the question is, how do we raise that money?
We are at the point in the campaign where the majority of the money we raise comes from people making donations in response to emails like this.
And if we reach our goals, we have a plan to win. If we don't, then we leave things to chance.
I don't want to leave anything to chance. Not with a race this important.
We've received a lot more individual donations than my opponent. But if we're going to reach our goals and win, I need more people like you to make a donation today.
Please make a contribution to my campaign for Senate today to help us reach the goals we need to execute our plan to win this race. The plan comes down to people like you donating to make sure we have the resources to win.
