Trump was in my congressional district last week, his 9th visit to Michigan since starting his 2024 presidential race – and his 3rd in just 9 days.

And while he was on stage in Potterville, Michigan, he called me out directly, saying that I am “a disaster.”

It’s not the first time that Donald Trump has come to Michigan and attacked me – in the past he’s gone as far as to call me a “far-left liberal lunatic” – and it will not be the last time. Trump also lavished praise on my opponent and made a bold prediction: that Republicans will flip this Senate seat red.

During his rally, he also claimed that the polls are rigged, attacked autoworkers, complained about slights and grievances, and undermined the sacrifices of our military and veterans. He also announced a policy to federally fund IVF treatments — despite the fact that every Republican Senate candidate (including our opponent) has refused to say if they would protect IVF federally. Even worse, my opponent, Mike Rogers, co-sponsored 4 bills that would make IVF impossible nationwide.

As I always say, watch what they do, not what they say. Mike Rogers and Donald Trump have both felt the political winds shift against them on the issue of choice, and now they are desperately hoping to persuade voters that they have changed – but Michiganders are not buying it.

We know Trump’s playbook, Julia. And every time Trump returns, it is a likely boon for our potential opponent – in fundraising, in media coverage, and in volunteer activity.

We need to not only match that energy, but exceed it.

No matter what anyone may tell you, Michigan is a swing state – full stop. And just as we have swung toward Democrats, Michigan is known for swinging right on back. We can't let that happen.
