Dear John --

My government is moving at rapid pace to get New Zealand back on track and deliver for you and all New Zealanders.

Our plan to strengthen the economy and lower your cost of living is working.

We’ve stopped wasteful spending, we’re getting rid of red tape and we’ve delivered the tax relief you deserve.  The Reserve Bank is easing interest rates, and your mortgage repayments are going to get more affordable.

Official data shows we’ve increased police foot patrols by 10% (despite Labour's Police spokesperson trying to claim otherwise <[link removed]>) as we work to restore law and order and ensure you feel safer.

We’ve got plenty of other changes on the go too. Just last week, we made major announcements to advance New Zealand’s infrastructure and make it easier to build and invest in New Zealand, which will help grow our economy and help Kiwis get ahead. These announcements include:

- Taking steps to fix New Zealand’s energy crisis through offshore wind farms, renewable energy and LNG imports to provide stability, give businesses confidence to invest and lower energy prices for Kiwis

- Further RMA reform to simplify the system and cut through red tape, making it easier and less costly to build across New Zealand

- Consulting on making the Christchurch Southern Motorway 110km/h to grow the regional economy, reduce travel times for Cantabrians and visitors and increase productivity in the region’s transport network

- A new infrastructure agency to coordinate and improve government funding, procurement and delivery, and better connect domestic and offshore investors with New Zealand infrastructure. This will provide certainty for businesses wanting to invest in New Zealand which means we can have better roads, pipes and public transport

- Our "Local Water done well" legislation which passed last week. It’s the beginning of our plan to replace Labour's undemocratic three waters project and ensure councils can manage their own water services.
