Unsurprisingly, Trump’s campaign event that he staged in Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery turned out to be a disaster. Just like the vast majority of his moves, this one has offended decent people, proven that he doesn’t care about this country, and has sent his campaign into a full-on spiral.
Where to even begin with this. We should probably start with the rule he broke just by putting on the event. Since its creation, Arlington National Cemetery has majorly frowned upon politicians using the space. More than 400,000 soldiers have been laid to rest in Arlington. It’s a sacred place where Americans honor their fallen soldiers. It’s not a place for photo ops and campaign speeches. But what does Trump care? This was just another tacky move by a tacky guy.
Next, because of course this was nothing more than a political stunt, Trump took pictures. Section 60 of Arlington is where young soldiers who died in combat are laid to rest. The families who visit this section are there to mourn somebody who was taken too soon while defending this country. Trump of course had no problem approaching families and snapping pictures. The worst part? He did the classic broad smile and thumbs up. At a gravesite. With families in mourning.
Then we have the biggest whammy. Trump and his team broke federal law by filming a TikTok. When an Arlington official made them aware of this and asked them to stop, one of Trump’s aides “abruptly pushed” the official and filmed the TikTok anyways. Classy. Especially at a memorial service.
Finally, in typical Trump fashion, instead of doing the right thing and apologizing, Trump’s team doubled down. One Trump aide referred to the Arlington official as “an unnamed individual, clearly suffering a mental health episode.” Another took to Twitter and called her a “despicable individual” who “deserves to be fired.” You’ll be shocked to know that this wasn’t perceived well by the public. Especially the military community, who Trump has already insulted more than enough.
What did we gather from this experience? Trump is ridiculously un-American. He has zero respect for this country and the people who served it. He’s not running for us, he’s running for him. He wants to stay out of prison and use the White House as a money grab. It gets clearer by the day. Help us make sure voters know his motivation >> <[link removed]>
