John, Leaders We Deserve is
supporting an incredible young candidate named Averie Bishop and she is
running for TX HD-112. Meet Averie:

Averie Bishop is the daughter of a fifth-generation Texan father and a
Filipino immigrant mother. She is running for Texas House District 112
because she understands the challenges of working-class families. Her
parents worked multiple jobs, so she wants to create a Texas where every
family and child can believe that everything in Texas truly is bigger and
better.

She attended a Title I school in Prosper ISD, a small town with 3,000
residents in 2003. She saw firsthand how lawmakers in Austin failed her
classmates and teachers. So she went on to be the first person in her
family to graduate college — and went on to graduate from SMU law school
so she could advocate for safer schools, affordable health care, and a
brighter future for the next generation of Texans.

In 2022, she won the title of Miss Texas and traveled across the state,
reaching over 100,000 students to promote cultural respect and celebrate
diversity. Her American dream starts with ensuring free, quality education
and accessible reproductive health care for all.
