America First Legal filed two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the U.S. Department of State to determine whether the Biden-Harris Administration had advance knowledge of or may have played a role in the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in Paris, France.

On August 28, 2024, French authorities charged Mr. Durov with “a host of crimes,” following his detainment at Paris-Le Bourget Airport on August 24, 2024. Mr. Durov’s Telegram Messenger is one of the world’s most successful and largest messaging platforms. Telegram promises its users that it will protect free speech and prevent government-sponsored censorship. He will have to post bail of €5 million and, if convicted, face decades in prison...

These documents, obtained through litigation against the Department of Justice (DOJ) after it stonewalled AFL’s investigation into the Biden-Harris Administration’s decision-making, reflect chaos and incompetence

For example, in early August 2021, the Department of State asked federal government agencies to confirm that a spreadsheet listing Afghans who did not meet minimum time-in-service for a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) should be referred to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) for resettlement into the United States because they had supposedly otherwise worked on behalf of the United States or a U.S. government-funded program...

Judge halts Biden program offering legal status to undocumented spouses

A federal judge in Texas has frozen President Joe Biden’s attempt to offer a path to citizenship to hundreds of thousands of immigrants who are married to U.S. citizens and living in the United States illegally, dealing a blow to a program the administration has touted as a key “pro-family” initiative.

U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker sided with Texas and 15 other Republican-led states that sued to block the program; they argued Biden’s move was an abuse of executive authority that sought to rewrite U.S. immigration laws.

Federal judge pauses Biden program that offers legal status to spouses of US citizens

The lawsuit, filed Friday in coordination with former President Trump ex-aide Stephen Miller’s America First Legal, argues that the new rule violates immigration authorities and the Administrative Procedures Act, which lays the groundwork for federal rulemaking.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), who led the suit, applauded the order while calling it just the first step.

"Biden’s unconstitutional scheme would have rewarded over 1 million illegal aliens with the opportunity for citizenship after breaking our country’s laws—and incentivized countless more,” he wrote Monday on the social platform X.
