I hope you and your family are enjoying a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend. During this time of year, we recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions the American workforce has made on our economy. When given the freedom to thrive, there is no one better able to innovate, adapt, and excel than American workers. Sadly, this Administration has hampered the American workforce and our economy is suffering. As a society, we must continue to embrace the values of ingenuity, entrepreneurship, and work ethic –as these have been the cornerstone of our historic success!

Investing in Research: My colleague and I are pushing for research that will hopefully help us better understand the underlying factors that contribute to neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. I am optimistic about how the implications can help us improve health outcomes for millions of Americans who are suffering with these horrific ailments. To learn more about our efforts, click here.
Remembering Our Heroes: Last week marked the third anniversary of the Abbey Gate Terrorist attacks in which 13 brave service members died during the Biden-Harris Administration’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. We will never forget those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Providing Relief While Restoring Fiscal Sanity: The national unemployment rate has spiked to 4.3% - which is the highest rate of unemployment since October 2021. Inflation is also up more than 20% under the Biden-Harris Administration. Our economy is slowing and Americans are purchasing less because of high prices. We simply can’t afford more of the same. We’ve got to return to pro-growth economic policies that restore fiscal sanity and allow all Americans to prosper.

Demanding Action to Secure our Border: The Department of Homeland Security’s Inspector General recently released a stunning report indicating that under border czar Kamala Harris’s watch, nearly 300,000 illegal immigrant children are unaccounted for. The agency can offer “no assurance” that these children are safe from trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor. The Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous border policies have opened up our country to cartels and human trafficking. We must secure our border.
Also of concern, new data shows that due to woefully inadequate information sharing under Border Czar Harris, 27 illegal immigrants on the terrorist watchlist were granted bond, and an additional four were granted asylum. Sadly, this is latest example of how the Biden-Harris failed border policies are jeopardizing our national security.
Strengthening Election Integrity: In a recent survey of my constituents, nearly 90% of respondents said that they believe more action is needed to ensure that only citizens are voting in our elections. I urge my Senate colleagues to pass the SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship to cast a vote.
Pushing Back Against Government Overreach: Last week, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg admitted that he had been pressured by the Biden-Harris Administration to censure Americans’ content related to COVID and Hunter Biden’s alleged wrong doing. This Administration’s blatant attempts to censor Americans' voices have been exposed on multiple occasions. This gross abuse of power is just the latest example of government overreach, election interference, and manipulation by those who are trying to cling to power.
In another desperate move, Democrats continued their relentless pursuit of lawfare – weaponizing federal agencies to try to jail their political opponents despite recent Supreme Court rulings. I have confidence that the American people will not be fooled or distracted by these games. And, I will continue to push back against this Administration's egregious overreach.
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team celebrated the induction of Dr. Stephen Best as Trinity College's 9th President.
My team also saluted local educators who were honored for their creative use of various news sources to teach students about current events as part of the Junior Achievement Program.
Additionally, my team attended a briefing at the Vincent House in Hernando County. This wonderful program serves adults who struggle with mental health issues and provides job coaching and mentorship services.
