Family Fun Night: Ice Cream Social & Book Swap

Get ready for some family fun! Please bring one new or gently-loved book per person to swap with other book-loving families as we share a delicious ice cream treat.
This program will be held in Program Rooms North and South.
Brown Bag Book Club

Do you like books? Do you want to talk about it? Join us in the Reading Alcove at noon on Thursday, September 5, for Brown Bag Book Club!
For September, we're discussing Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey.
For November, we're discussing If These Wings Could Fly by Kyrie McCauley.
Friends of HPL Fall Book Sale

Saturday, September, 7, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The Friends of Hurst Public Library will be selling used books, puzzles, DVDs, and other items in Program Rooms North and South on Friday, September 6th, 4:00 p.m. members only pre-sale, open to the public 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, September, 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Most items are $.50 - $1.00, and all proceeds support the Library's programs and services.
Annual memberships will be available for purchase at the door starting at $10.00 per individual.
Bad Art Night: Video Games
Thursday, September 12, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Join us on National Video Games Day to paint your favorite game or character in a newer, badder way. Prizes will be awarded for The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
This program is held in Program Rooms North and South.
Texas Bluebonnet Award Book Club
Tuesday, September 17, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Kids in grades 3-6 and a caregiver can dig deep into this year's Texas Bluebonnet Award List at Bluebonnet Book Club! For September, we'll be reading The Fire, the Water, and Maudie McGinn by Sally J. Pla.
This program will be held in the Reading Alcove.
Teen Hot Glue Painting
Thursday, September 19, 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Upcycle a favorite old stained clothing item (a T-shirt, cap, or sneakers) by creating patterns and words with hot glue and paint. If you don't have something to bring, the Library will provide white bandanas to paint. You will use a glue gun to create your words and designs and then paint over the glue with acrylic paint. Peeling off the glue after paint dries reveals your graffiti artwork! Designed for grades 6-12.
This program will be held in the Learning Center.
Fellowship of the Crafters
Tuesday, September 24, 6:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
Each crafting project is its own epic journey, but you don't have to craft alone. Join the Fellowship of the Crafters every 4th Tuesday of the month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the Library Reading Alcove with your current work in progress, regardless of the medium. We provide the chat and snacks, and you provide the craft!
Library Showcase 2024: Storybook Ball
Thursday, September 26, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Whether you follow the White Rabbit, the Golden Snitch, or the Yellow Brick Road to our Storybook Ball Showcase, you'll find free fun for everyone at the Hurst Public Library on Thursday, September 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Snack on fresh popcorn and cotton candy while you enjoy crafts, games, a petting zoo, and a bounce house. You'll be twirling your ballgown to Satellite's contagious, electrifying, live music at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Gazebo, but remember to pick up your commemorative enamel pin before your coach turns into a pumpkin!
