Our August fundraising deadline is only hours away, and we’re still $1,755 away from our goal. If you could pitch in any amount, even $5, to help us catch up, it would really help us out at a pivotal moment. But I also want to take a moment to explain something. You might be wondering why, with so many other Democrats running for re-election this year, I’m facing so many attacks. It’s a good question, and here are three answers: 1) The path to a House majority runs through this district. If we win here, we have a VERY good chance of flipping the House. If we lose, it’s likely that National Republicans remain in control — and gain another vote in favor of a national abortion ban. 2) I’m the only Democrat from Kansas in Congress. In fact, no Democrat other than me has won a federal race in Kansas in over a decade. So the Kansas GOP is determined to beat me — because I’m the biggest obstacle to their plan, which would ban abortion, IVF, and same-sex marriage. 3) I’ve achieved a lot of things that special interests don’t like. Capping insulin prices, passing bipartisan legislation to reduce gun violence, protecting same-sex marriage rights, and creating good-paying, clean-energy jobs here in Kansas — these things are all popular among regular Americans, but some deep-pocketed special interests are dead-set on reversing them.
Thanks, and have a great rest of your night. -Sharice |
