John, I’m only joking.

Those matches aren’t real. They’re a fundraising gimmick used to trick you into donating. I’ve never tried that because I believe in running an honest campaign and being an honest lawmaker if I win.

I’ll keep this short: we’re still $1,800 behind what we need to finish printing our campaign lit before we launch the Battleground County Tour next week.

If everyone reading this pitches in just $1.80 today, we can keep up the momentum to win this race and FLIP ID-02! Will you help me?

Every day from now until November 5th will make the difference between giving Idaho families real representation and protecting democracy, or letting MAGA’s influence continue to harm Congress and our state.

If you missed the announcement about the Battleground County Tour, I’ve included it below.

Thank you all for your support this election. I couldn’t do it without you.

Subject: YOU live in a battleground county

Date: Aug 29, 2024, at 2:32 PM

John,

You might not have thought about it this way before, but many Americans are struggling thanks to zip code discrimination. Let me explain.

The quality of your child’s education and the funding their school gets? Based on the property tax in the area, so kids in poor neighborhoods are more likely to receive a subpar education and have less career opportunities in the future.

Access to counseling, healthcare specialists, or even reproductive services? Depends on where you live. Some women have to drive over an hour just to reach the nearest maternity ward.

Even in presidential campaigns, entire states are sometimes ignored because the people there are seen as less influential, less likely to donate, and less important overall.

This thinking trickles down into congressional races, too.

A graphic showing two maps of the United States. The first map is mostly light gray, with seven swing states shaded darker gray. 15 counties are highlighted bright purple. A banner next to the map identifies these counties as “Battleground counties according to the U.S. News & World Report.” The second U.S. map shows every state colored bright blue. A banner next to this map reads “Counties that matter.”

Districts like ID-02 are often overlooked by national Democrats and even officials at the state level. They give up on flipping House seats before they even try to make a difference, just assuming that they’ll lose because some counties have a history of voting Republican.

John, win or lose, a vote in Clark County is just as important to me as a vote in Ada County. If you live in this country, you matter, your vote matters, and your county should matter.

With less than 10 weeks until November 5, it’s pretty clear that Idaho’s second congressional district isn’t on anyone’s list of places that matter to this election.

We aren’t going to get outside help to flip this seat or reach voters. There aren’t going to be TV ads or major endorsements to win this race and kick out Mike Simpson. We have to use every resource we have to get the job done ourselves.

This is a ground game now, and we’ve got our sneakers ready.

Beginning next week, we’re putting all of our energy into what we’re calling The Battleground County Tour. Every county in this district is a “battleground” county, and I’m going to hit them all so every community in ID-02 knows who I am before they see my name on the ballot.

John, we are just $4,300 behind where we need to end this month so we can hit the ground running next week. Can you let me know I have your support TODAY and help us close the gap?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

There is no doubt that the outcome in this election – both for the White House and for Congress – will decide the future of our country, our rights, and even our families.

We are in a battle for the fabric of our democracy, and the extremists who want to rip it to shreds won’t discriminate based on where we live.

This year more than ever before, every vote matters, and every county is a battleground county.

Never giving up,

-David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
