Hi

If you haven’t yet heard our BBC Radio 4 appeal with special ambassador Jo Yirrell, it’ll be re-broadcast this afternoon at 3:27pm. You can also listen to it now, on the BBC website.
Listen to Jo's appeal ([link removed])

Jo’s appeal is raising vital funds so we, alongside our global partners, can continue to fight malaria through this pandemic.

Over the past two decades, we have made incredible progress beating this deadly disease. Through global investment and determination, 7 million lives have been saved, and over a billion cases of malaria prevented.

A new beacon of hope is that the world’s first malaria vaccine ([link removed]) is already being trialled and saving lives in Ghana, Malawi and Kenya. If successful, it will help millions of more children live malaria-free lives.

But as Covid-19 continues to spread through countries with malaria, there is a real danger that the progress we have made will be lost. A report from the World Health Organisation last week estimated hundreds of thousands of young lives could be put at risk by a rise in malaria.

Donations to BBC Radio 4‘s appeal will help us work to protect progress against malaria and make sure that millions of vulnerable children receive the protection they need.

Thanks to your generosity, we have hit our first target and unlocked our partner Fever-Tree's generous triple match. We now have until midnight on Saturday to keep spreading the word and raise vital funds to support Jo’s vision of a world where one-day no mother loses their child to malaria. Thank you for anything you can do to help.
