Georgia is one of the most important battleground states that will decide whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris wins in November — and Georgia Republicans have come up with a new scheme to sabotage the 2024 presidential election for Trump.

Here’s what’s happening: Three Trump-backed members of the Republican-controlled Georgia State Election Board just rammed through a new set of rules that allow county election officials to challenge the election results and potentially block certification of a Harris victory.

Georgia Democrats have filed a lawsuit to block these new rules from going into effect, and I believe they have a very strong case. But friends, this shows once again why we cannot allow this election to come down to a few thousand votes in just one state.

The new rules passed by the Georgia State Election Board allow officials in any one of Georgia’s 159 counties to delay or potentially even block certification of the election by conducting what they call a “reasonable inquiry” into the accuracy of results.

That may not sound like such a terrible idea, but these county officials are supposed to simply count the votes and certify the numbers, not second guess the result.

If there is evidence of actual fraud, the candidates can prove their case in court before a judge. That’s what happened in 2020, when Donald Trump filed 62 lawsuits alleging election fraud and lost nearly every single one.

So now, they want to take the power to decide election disputes away from judges and give them to county-level MAGA loyalists who will carry water for Trump no matter what.

This is why we must keep pushing to turn out every single Democratic voter and convince as many undecided voters as possible to vote for Harris and against Trump — so we win by a big enough margin that Trump and his minions have no possible chance of blocking the result.
