This may not come as a surprise, but it appears that people in President Trump’s orbit are cashing in. We see it with President Trump’s visits to his own business properties, we see it with officials leaving to join industry they regulated, and we see it with the Trump family profiting off of the presidency every single day.

A second former Trump cabinet member appears to be profiting off the zero tolerance immigration policy they helped implement. Former Defense Secretary James Mattis has joined the board of General Dynamics, a huge defense contractor with contracts relating to “the needs of unaccompanied children.” He joins former DHS Secretary and former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly in directly cashing in on the disastrous immigration policies they helped carry out in the Trump administration, which resulted in thousands of children being separated from their parents.

President Trump’s failure to divest from his businesses continues to lead to international conflicts of interest. This time, it’s a trip to Indonesia by Donald Trump, Jr, for a pre-launch event for projects in Bali and Lido, Indonesia. Although these projects have been in progress since before Trump’s presidency, new agreements with a Chinese state-owned construction company and another company partly owned by the Saudi Arabian and South Korean governments related to the Lido development have led to new, concerning potential conflicts of interest. President Trump and his administration have taken profiteering to new, despicable heights. No matter what, CREW will continue uncovering this corruption, pushing for transparency, and holding officials accountable.
