John,

Between now and Election Day, you'll probably receive a million emails and text messages from candidates across the country — some of whom you've never heard of before. They will ask for a donation and tell you about some made up deadline. No substance other than: "we need your money."

Our campaign also needs to meet our fundraising goals, but you should know where your money goes and what you are supporting. So let me tell you.

When you chip into our campaign, your supporting:

Grassroots engagement;

Digital ads;

Printing yard signs and campaign pamphlets;

Direct mail pieces;

The work of recruiting volunteers to go out and talk to voters; and

Our fight to support hard-working Iowans and their families.

And why do we need to do all this work? Sioux City is a target for far-right extremists. Governor Reynolds — a decidedly far-right extremist — won our district by 10 points during her last election, and my opponent could do the same thing in 2024. Far-right extremists know that if they work just a little bit harder than us, they will be able to flip this seat and get rid of the only Democrat in Northwestern Iowa.

We can't let that happen.

Iowans deserve a voice in the state legislature that will Stand Tall for abortion rights, working families, education, and so much more. I work hard to be that voice every day and to represent the needs and concerns of our community, but I need your help.
