Dear John,
District Update
This August, I got to spend back at home in the district! This month was filled with great food, people, and businesses! It was a privilege to get to talk with many of our constituents, listen to their concerns, and see all of the outstanding things happening in our district. One of my first stops was the Google Texas Data Center Announcement in Midlothian. This cloud and data center expansion will improve our state's tech infrastructure and bring more jobs and opportunities to TX6!
I then made my way to Hill and Navarro County, where I got to meet some of our local farmers! We had some productive conversations about their challenges. Agriculture is the backbone of Texas, and we must ensure that we always support our local farms and farmers!
Shopping locally and supporting locally businesses has always been something my family has strived to do. As I was visiting all of the counties, I met some many great shop owners and I encouraged you to do visit them next time you are near.
Venus Market was a unique boutique that had something for everyone! It was great getting to chat with Tara and her staff about their passion for the market.
I also visited Biundo’s Pizzeria, a family-owned shop serving Chicago-style pizza! It was great getting to meet the Biundo family and get some of their outstanding authentic deep-dish pizza!
And I stopped by David's Grocery in Alvarado; a lot has stayed the same since they opened in 1964. It's the same hometown feel where everyone knows your name, you're greeted with a smile, and they have everything you need! It was great to get to visit with Jeff Leobold and his team and how they keep the small-town spirit alive.
Upcoming Events
As we reach the end of the summer, I first want to wish all of our students, teachers, administrators, and school district staff a happy and safe school year!
For those students considering applying for a Service Academy, my office is hosting Service Academy Q&A sessions! This is great opportunity to get learn more about the application process, career paths, and what it takes to attend a U.S Service Academy.
