An important update from Congressman Ken Calvert about what he is working on in Washington on behalf of Riverside County residents

Earlier this week, the state of California announced the first of the seven C-130 Hercules aircraft transferred from the federal government to CAL FIRE will begin flying missions. I played a lead role in the bipartisan effort to transfer the aircraft and use them to fly critical firefighting missions.

We need all the assistance we can get fighting wildfires in California, so the addition of these C-130 Hercules aircraft is welcome news. These aircraft will make a real impact in the protection of lives and property in Riverside County and throughout our state. I’m proud that my bipartisan efforts along with Senator Alex Padilla, and the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, will be making a difference in our ability to confront life-threatening disasters in California.

The opening of the new Hamner Avenue Bridge is great news for residents in Norco, Eastvale, and our entire region! I was honored to attend and speak at this week’s ribbon cutting about the important federal funding, that I supported and helped make this project a reality. I was also thrilled to congratulate my friend, Berwin Hanna, on having the new bridge dedicated in his name. A well-deserved honor for this Norco legend. Thanks to everyone involved with this terrific project!

Three years ago this past Monday, we lost 13 heroes at Abbey Gate in Afghanistan. Our Congressional District was home to Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui from Norco. When I passed the law renaming the Norco Post Office after LCpl. Nikoui, we pledged to never forget his sacrifice. On Monday, I renewed that pledge by placing a wreath in his honor. I was thankful to be joined by Norco Mayor Kevin Bash, Norco Planning Commissioner Fia Sullivan, and local veterans.
