Unflattering Trump biopic "The Apprentice" finally gets a release date despite GOP's frantic efforts to block its release
The Apprentice, Ali Abbasi’s very buzzed-about movie about the early career of the disgraced ex-president will hit theaters before November’s presidential election after Trump’s campaign and supporters tried in vain to stop its release. The controversial biopic starring Sebastian Stan as Trump and Jeremy Strong as infamous lawyer Roy Cohn will be released on October 11, 2024, a date that was reported first by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday. The Apprentice, written by Trump biographer Gabriel Sherman and directed by Abbasi, was partially funded by Dan Snyder, a billionaire Trump donor perhaps best known for buying the Washington Commanders NFL franchise and subsequently turning it into a league laughingstock. Snyder reportedly became “furious” about the movie after seeing an early cut in February. He originally believed the film was going to be a more flattering portrayal of Trump as a young man, but when it painted a much different picture of the ex-president, he tried — and failed — to prevent it from ever being released. The Apprentice premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and received an eight-minute standing ovation.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Kamala Harris humiliates Trump in highly-anticipated network interview
Vice President Harris gave the convicted felon and serial sex pest's obnoxious, racist attacks on her all the attention it deserved in her first sit-down interview since officially becoming the Democratic nominee for president: "Same old tired playbook. Next question please." Seven words. That's all it took. This is how you win an election against the MAGA cult leader.

Women are not stupid: Democrats scoff at Trump's sudden pledge to cover IVF costs
The MAGA cult leader responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade suddenly wants women to believe HE will step up and protect reproductive choice in American — including IVF treatments, which are expressly under threat by radical, right-wing Republicans hellbent on sending America to the dark ages. "American women are not stupid," Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Friday on a press call organized by Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, calling the con man's latest proposal "smoke and mirrors." Warren continued, “Making vague promises about insurance coverage does not stop a single extremist judge or state legislature from banning IVF." Correct. Furthermore, we already know precisely what the GOP plans to do when it comes to reproductive rights if they return to power BECAUSE THEY LITERALLY WROTE IT DOWN IN THEIR OFFICIAL MANIFESTO. Enough already.

Major publishers sue Florida over "unconstitutional" school book ban
Six major book publishers have teamed up to sue the US state of Florida over an “unconstitutional” law that has seen hundreds of titles purged from school libraries following rightwing challenges. The landmark action targets the “sweeping book removal provisions” of House Bill 1069, which required school districts to set up a mechanism for parents to object to anything they considered pornographic or inappropriate. A central plank of Republican governor Ron DeSantis’ war on “woke” on Florida campuses, the law has been abused by rightwing activists who quickly realized that any book they challenged had to be immediately removed and replaced only after the exhaustion of a lengthy and cumbersome review process, if at all, the publishers say.
Trump campaign stoops to insulting US Army "hacks" over Arlington cemetery debacle
Chris LaCivita, a prominent Trump campaign adviser, called the US Secretary of the Army and her staff "hacks," doubling down in the campaign’s dispute with Arlington National Cemetery officials. The disgraced ex-president and his campaign have been in hot water after they tried to turn Trump’s August 26 visit to the military cemetery into a nakedly partisan campaign commercial, despite an Arlington National Cemetery worker warning them that doing so was against federal laws — an exchange that resulted in an alleged physical altercation between Trump's entourage and the cemetery employee. Oh, nothing. Just more of Donald Trump's best people doing their damnedest to sully every last sacred thread of the American fabric.
Anti-abortion groups warn Trump’s flip-flopping rhetoric on position risks losing votes
Over the last two weeks, an obviously rattled Donald Trump has publicly backed away from multiple, longstanding anti-abortion positions — a move that Democrats rightly see as hypocritical and that anti-abortion activists warn risks alienating voters who have long stood by him. On Thursday, Trump said that, if elected, he would make the government or insurance companies cover in vitro fertilization — the very type of fertility assistance that many in the anti-abortion movement want to see curtailed or eliminated altogether. The MAGA cult leader also indicated that he planned to vote in favor of a ballot measure to restore abortion access in Florida, which currently bans abortion past six weeks of pregnancy. Trump’s campaign quickly rushed to walk back his remarks on the ballot measure, of course, desperate not to lose the rabid, anti-abortion vote they have so plainly and callously catered to for years. This is what happens when you christen a self-serving narcissist as your leader. Trump stands for nothing but his own self-interest. Of course he will eventually fall back in line and do the radical, right-wing's bidding, but the man lacks all personal conviction and only truly cares about a single, solitary thing: himself.
