Dear John,
One of the best parts of my job is working with youth climate activists and amplifying the amazing work they are doing across the state.
I was especially excited to attend the SolaRISE Maine Schools Summit originally scheduled for March 17th at SPACE Gallery. It was one of the best summit line-ups I’ve received and I was telling all of my friends and co-workers about the amazing work being done by SolaRISE’s Youth Director, Siri Pierce. Siri is a senior at Casco Bay High School, an expeditionary learning school in Portland. She’s been doing amazing and impactful work to connect schools with solar. As a former High School teacher, I was really impressed with what Siri had pulled together.
After the Summit was canceled, I reached out to Siri to let her know how disappointed I was and to see if there was anything Maine Conservation Voters could do to help.
Siri, being a young woman of action, had clear ideas for how we could work together
And so, I’m delighted to invite you to the first SolaRISE Virtual Maine Schools Summit on Tuesday, May 12th. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about solar legislation, financing school solar projects, organizing school solar campaigns, and more.

The process of going solar can seem complex and daunting, but with access to resources and information, students, teachers, and community members will be more equipped to bring the issue to their school district and city! We hope you’ll plan to join us on May 12th and encourage you to share this invite with the students, parents, and teachers in your networks.
Warmly,
Will
