Local journalism has emerged as essential amid this pandemic. But it remains to be hard and expensive work. To that end, our PublicSource team hopes that now and in the future you’d consider supporting our news service. PublicSource is going to be part of #GiveBigPittsburgh, and we ask that you consider supporting PublicSource here on Tuesday, May 5. Your support will help us send a message of how important fact-checked, trustworthy journalism is in our community and beyond. Can we count on you?

In this virtual webinar, we will do some myth-busting, share examples of COVID-19 fakeries, discuss the impact of misinformation during a public health crisis and share some tips on vetting information online. We will also discuss the role of sourcing and fact-checking and how newsrooms like PublicSource approach the evolving story of the coronavirus on the local level. Students and teachers are welcome. This class will be 45 minutes long and we will leave 15 minutes for questions. Registration is required here
