Highlights

Demanding accountability for national security failures

This past May, two illegal Jordanian nationals, including one on a terror watchlist, attempted to breach Marine Corps Base Quantico by posing as delivery drivers. They were apprehended after trying to force their way onto the base, which houses key U.S. military and intelligence operations, including the FBI Academy. Despite the seriousness of their actions and their illegal status, both men were released on bail, sparking widespread concern.

In response to this heinous act, I recently joined a letter led by Rep. Andy Biggs demanding answers and accountability from the Biden-Harris Administration. The letter condemns the decision to release these individuals, highlighting the failure of the Biden-Harris administration's policies to protect American citizens and the dangerous precedent this sets. The letter calls for immediate action to ensure that those who threaten our security are detained and held accountable.

Three years since Kabul

This week marked the three-year anniversary of the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan that led to the tragic loss of 13 American servicemembers in a suicide bombing at Kabul’s airport. The devastation of that day remains a painful reminder of the costs of rushed decisions and inadequate planning, leaving deep questions about the choices that led to such a loss.

Since then, President Biden has remained largely silent, offering little acknowledgment of the sacrifices made. In contrast, former President Trump has met with the grieving families, providing the recognition and support they deserve. House Republicans continue to push for answers and accountability.

As we remember this anniversary, we pray for the families of the fallen and honor their service with a renewed call for accountability and respect.

Maintaining true Title IX protections

In a major win for girls and women's sports, the Supreme Court of the United States in a 5-4 ruling overturned the Biden administration's revision of Title IX, which would have let men in women's sports, restrooms, locker rooms, and dorms.

As a result, male athletes will not be permitted in women's sports, restrooms, locker rooms, or residence halls. Last month, I supported a Congressional Review Act resolution that would stop the Biden Administration's final Title IX rule, and I will continue to fight for true Title IX protections and ensure that every woman has the opportunity to thrive in a safe environment!

House Judiciary's report on illegal immigration's toll on our communities

This week, I shared my concerns about the recent House Judiciary Committee report on a tragic incident in Prattville, Alabama, where a 14-year-old girl was assaulted by an illegal immigrant in May 2023. The Committee has been seeking information from the Department of Homeland Security about illegal immigrants involved in serious crimes, requesting access to their immigration records. However, the administration has not been forthcoming, often leading the Committee to issue subpoenas to obtain these critical details.

The report highlights that the individual responsible for this crime entered the U.S. in 2021 as a gotaway, despite a history of domestic violence in his home country. Sadly, he is just one of over 600,000 criminal illegal immigrants who have entered the country in recent years. This incident underscores the need for greater accountability and stronger measures to ensure the safety of our communities and protect American families.

Around The District

Alabama League of Municipalities meeting in Dothan

I had a wonderful time giving a legislative update to members of the Alabama League of Municipalities earlier this month in Dothan!

It is always a pleasure to speak with constituents and discuss issues that are important to our community.

The Business Council of Alabama's annual Government Affairs Conference

I had the opportunity to attend the Business Council of Alabama's annual Government Affairs Conference in Point Clear, Alabama, alongside a few of my colleagues.

I had a fantastic time discussing infrastructure priorities, such as road, water, and broadband improvements, as well as how to address the rise in mental health struggles among the young people of our state.

Briefing at Plant Farley

Marshall and Alex from Team Moore had the opportunity to visit the Farley nuclear plant for a tour. The emergency preparedness team provided them with a comprehensive briefing on the plant and their duties and obligations while working there.

Alabama Farmers Federation's farm tours during the organization's annual Farm & Land Conference

Taylor Keel from Team Moore's had the opportunity to participate in the Alabama Farmers Federation's farm tours at the organization's annual Farm & Land Conference earlier this month. Taylor had the opportunity to visit the ArborGen tree nursery in Selma and provide the Alabama Farmers Federation with a legislative update on my behalf.

Touring the Wiregrass Public Safety Center

Marshall from Team Moore recently visited the Wiregrass Public Safety Center, where he had the chance to witness the training of emergency and public safety servicemembers and provide the Wiregrass Public Safety Center's staff with a legislative update on the work I am doing in Washington, D.C. It was eye-opening for him to see how these dedicated individuals prepare to serve and protect our communities.

Service Academy Dinner

Last week, Team Moore hosted our service academy informational event to assist students interested in attending one of the service academies across our nation!

If you are still interested in attending a service academy, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office for assistance or click here for more information!

Congratulations, Gen. Gill!

This past month, Heather and Shannon from Team Moore attended the Fort Novosel Command Reception to officially welcome Maj. Gen. Clair A. Gill as the new Commanding General of the USAACE and Fort Novosel!

Congratulations, Gen. Gill! My office and I look forward to working with you!

Celebrating the Mobile Shipyard's five year anniversary

This month, I had the privilege of visiting the Mobile shipyard to celebrate its fifth anniversary and to provide those in attendance with a legislative update on the work I am currently doing in Washington, D.C.

I was very impressed with the shipyard! They have 5000 feet of pier space, a 355-acre footprint, a 1000+ labor force capacity, and have completed over 100 projects!

Meeting with purple heart veterans in Ozark

Shannon from Team Moore had the privilege of attending a touching luncheon in Ozark earlier this month, where she was surrounded by remarkable Purple Heart veterans from Coffee, Dale, and Houston Counties. She was fortunate enough to listen to Dr. Jack Hawkins from Troy University, a Purple Heart veteran, deliver a captivating and motivating keynote address. Shannon also had the chance to inform other attendees about the work I am doing on their behalf in Washington, D.C.

Touring the Pike County Judicial Complex

Recently, Marshall from Team Moore had the opportunity to visit the Pike County Judicial Complex to provide a legislative update on the work I am doing in D.C. and to tour the grounds.

Pike County once had the most outdated facilities in the state, but now they have a new jail facility and the latest concept of a judicial center.

The center now houses four courtrooms, a forensic lab, an evidence room, and state-of-the-art security systems to ensure the safety of the public, employees, and inmates.

Thank you to the officers who were able to give Marshall a tour of the grounds!

Be sure to take the survey of the month!

More than 10 million illegal border crossings have occurred during the present administration, creating serious concerns about border security and public safety. At least ninety-nine people on the FBI's terrorist watch list, as well as over 600,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records, have been released into communities across the United States, confirming the urgent need for increased oversight and action.

Tragic incidents, such as the death of Melody Waldecker in a carjacking by an undocumented immigrant outside Washington, D.C., highlight the human cost of these issues. In response, House Republicans enacted the Secure the Border Act, which addresses these issues, but the bill has yet to be considered by the Senate. As families across the country bear the brunt of the current crisis, it is evident that stronger policies and leadership are required to safeguard the safety and security of all Americans.

I want to hear from you!

Have the Biden-Harris Administration's policies failed to secure the border?
Yes
No
Taking this survey will sign you up for future news and updates from my office.
