Dear Friends,
I hope your families are staying cool amidst this week's heatwave. Despite the heat, I have been hard at work educating our communities about federal funding opportunities, celebrating new community resources, and meeting community members to discuss the inequities Black women and girls face.
IL-02 Grants Workshop
From water infrastructure to new roadways, federal grants bring historic investments to our communities. I was thrilled to see more than 30 of our local municipalities join my office for our grants workshop at Prairie State College.
$500,000 for New Boys & Girls Club Center
The Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County’s new intergenerational center in Fairbury will be a crucial space for fostering community and learning between senior citizens and our emerging young leaders. I’m honored to have secured $500,000 in federal funding for this important project.
State of the Black Woman Address
For far too long, Black women and girls have faced disproportionate inequities in education, health care, housing, and economic development. This week, I held my annual State of the Black Woman Address at Chicago State University alongside Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller and Illinois State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin. This event included discussion panels and workshops covering economic justice, women's health, black female entrepreneurship, and more.
If you would like to share your thoughts with me, feel free to visit my website. You can also keep in touch through Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
Sincerely,
Robin L. Kelly Member of Congress
