Friends,

I hope you and your family are well! I wanted to provide you with a few updates regarding what’s going on –

3.5 Years of the Biden/Harris Border Crisis

President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris seem to forget they've been in office for 3.5 years. Let me set the record straight:

From their first day in office, they laid out the "welcome mat" for illegals on the Southern Border.

From day 1, the Biden/Harris administration dismantled Trump's America-first border policies and incentivized illegal immigration by issuing 94 executive actions in the first 100 days of office.

Day 1, they defunded the Border Wall opening the floodgates to illegal border crossers.

Day 1, they openly supported sanctuary cities for illegal border crossers funded by American taxpayer dollars.

In the last 8 months alone, the Biden/Harris administration saw 2.4 million illegal border crossers, compared to the Trump administration, which only saw around 2.4 million illegal border crossers in 48 months.

The Biden/Harris administration secretly flew 400,000 illegal immigrants into U.S. cities, and they released 99 known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) into American communities.

Over 30 million non-citizens from over 160 countries reside in the U.S., 6 times the population of South Carolina. 12 million of those illegally entered the country in the last 3.5 years under Biden/Harris.

Let me be clear, this is the Biden/Harris Border Crisis!

Legislative Action

I cosponsored H.R. 7450, Rep. Elise Stefanik’s bill supporting the protection of consumers’ privacy when making purchases from firearm retailers by prohibiting payment card networks and other covered entities from requiring the use of or assigning merchant category codes that distinguish a firearms retailer from a general-merchandise retailer or sporting-goods retailer.

I cosponsored H.R. 8066, Rep. Tom Emmer’s bill which requires a report on the domestic supply and production of nitrocellulose, a compound that is the main ingredient in modern gunpowder, to mitigate the chance of a supply shortage that could harm the commercial marketplace and place war fighters at risk.

I cosponsored H.R. 2743, Rep. Andy Barr’s bill that would prevent financial institutions from discriminating against law-abiding persons or businesses based on political beliefs or affiliations.

In the District

Lander University scored its first national title for the Strike King Bassmaster competition. Bass Pro Shops presented the national championship trophies to Garrett Smith and Andrew Blanton. The two students made a comeback late in the game to solidify their win. Both expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to fish competitively.

Ryan Miller was a star pitcher on Clemson’s baseball team during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. After pitching for the Tigers, Miller went on to play for independent organizations and minor league teams. On August 28th, he played in his first MLB game as a relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels. He was up against the Detroit Tigers and pitched a perfect seventh inning.

This week, Oconee County election officials announced the nine student finalists in the “I Voted” sticker contest. The contest began with 29 students. It was narrowed down to 3 from each age category: grades K-5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. The winning student in each age category will have their sticker entry available for voters this fall to wear during the early voting period.

It is an honor to serve the Third District of South Carolina. Should you or your family need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office directly.
