This email might look a little familiar to you. That’s because my team and I sent it out months ago to present to Iowans our plan to elect more Democrats, and show why your support is crucial in helping us accomplish the Democratic Party’s goals. Now, with the election less than three months away, we believe it’s important to share this again. |
Before I get into it, I’m asking once again if you’ll make a donation to the Iowa Democratic Party today ahead of our end-of-month deadline. Thanks to your hard work, we’re currently well outpacing the Republicans in fundraising goals, and we’d like it to stay that way. |
Step One: Hold Republicans Accountable |
Folks, the GOP’s agenda is wildly unpopular. From gutting public education to attacking reproductive freedom to rejecting money to feed hungry kids, Republicans have proven they are out of step with Iowa families. |
On the other hand, Iowa Democrats are working to lower the cost of higher education, raise wages, improve access to affordable healthcare, lower the cost of prescription drugs, defend our fundamental rights, and so much more! |
It’s clear: Democrats’ priorities are Iowans’ priorities. That’s why we need to make sure every Iowa voter knows where their elected officials stand. In order to turn this state around, Iowan citizens have to know who’s siphoning money away from rural schools, and who adopted an abortion ban so extreme most women won’t even know they're pregnant when it takes effect; the Republicans. |
Step Two: Empower County Parties |
With Donald Trump on the ballot and the spread of right-wing media, people are becoming more divided. If Democrats are going to start winning, we need to talk to our neighbors and establish a presence in every corner of the state. |
Our county parties are crucial to building relationships in our communities, supporting local candidates, and getting Democrats out to the polls. That’s why we’re working to strengthen communication between grassroots activists and the state party. |
The Republican Party is the Party of Trump, plain and simple. They have nothing without him. The Democratic Party is built on the everyday voters and organizers who demand change. You all are the Democratic Party. |
Step Three: Improve Democratic Turnout |
121,091 registered Iowa Democrats or Dem-leaning voters voted in 2020, but did not vote in 2022. In 2022, some statewide Democratic candidates lost their races by just 20,000 votes. |
25,758 registered Iowa Democrats or Dem-leaning voters registered to vote since the 2020 election. If every Iowan under the age of 35 voted, Democrats would easily win every statewide and Congressional race. The enthusiasm for Kamala Harris has inspired thousands of young people across Iowa, and now is the time to turn that into winning elections. |
In order to win, we’ve got to show up. That’s why we’re working hard to turn out new and inconsistent Democratic voters – the voters we’ll need to win races up and down the ballot. With increased energy, and increased turnout measures, we’re hoping to see thousands of new voters choose the Democratic Party this November. |
Step Four: Build Up Fundraising Infrastructure |
Republicans are counting on big checks from special interest groups and out-of-state politicians like Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley to power their campaigns. Iowa Democrats are counting on people like you. |
In order to beat Republicans at the ballot box, we need a grassroots force that can match them dollar-for-dollar. I’m proud to share that, as of this moment, the Iowa Democratic Party is still outraising the Iowa Republican Party for the 2024 election cycle! |
Your contribution will help us reach new grassroots donors, host events in every corner of the state, and continue to build on our momentum. |
Thanks for taking the time to read this message once again. I truly appreciate your support. Sincerely, Rita Hart IDP Chair |
