Hey — I hate to be a nuisance but I needed to reach out.

In 24 hours, we’re facing a big end-of-month fundraising deadline. Right now, we’re $2,145 short of our August fundraising goal. Can I count on you to pitch in $5 and help us catch up?

Let me be clear about this: I know you probably get emails from a lot of campaigns asking for support. And I know that if you donated from every single one of those emails, you’d probably drain your bank account.

So let me take a moment to explain why I’m asking you to donate off of this email:

* Unlike a lot of other candidates, I can’t make up the difference from my own pocket if we fall short of our fundraising goals. That’s how things go when you work to support your family and pay your own way through school from the time you’re a teenager!

* In our last election, we faced a ton of false right-wing attacks, and we spent essentially every dollar we raised fighting back against them. So, again unlike other campaigns, we started this election essentially rebuilding from scratch.

* Colorado is home to one of the most virulent and extreme Republican Parties in the country. Unfortunately, the reality of that is we need to be prepared to fight back against truly vile attacks on my record and character.

* And finally, I’m asking for your support because I’m betting we share the same values. I’m standing up in Congress for abortion rights, for LGBTQ+ rights, for democracy, and for an economy that puts regular people before corporate interests. To me, this job is about delivering actual progress for Coloradans, not saying the most outrageous thing possible in order to see my name in the news.

If that’s the kind of leadership you’d like to see more of in Congress, then I am humbly asking for your support before our big deadline tomorrow.
