Hi friend,
At the Democratic National Convention last week, one word kept coming up: freedom.
As Americans, we may disagree about how to address certain problems, but the problems themselves are matters of fact. Inequality is growing. Social mobility is at a standstill. Proper health care is beyond the reach of tens of millions. So is a good education and life lived in safety.
If we are to truly create a fair, just country, I believe every American must have access to four essential freedoms.
Freedom to rise — Our policies need to value workers and working families, not generational wealth.
Freedom to learn — Without a good education, mobility and justice are out of reach for the next generation.
Freedom from violence — Violence affects our everyday lives, and it affects our children the most. We should live in a country unburdened by senseless gun violence, addiction, and the quiet cruelty that flourishes on social media.
Freedom to govern ourselves — Voter suppression, gerrymandering, the influx of dark money, and partisanship in Congress shut too many voices out of our system, putting our democracy at risk.
Last week, we shared a vision for this country where our freedoms are protected and everyone has a fair shot to succeed.
We have less than 70 days to make sure Democrats across the country, from local school board candidates in Colorado to Vice President Kamala Harris, have the support and resources they need to win.
Your support will be essential to safeguarding our Senate majority and taking back the House this November. Will you help my campaign hit our fundraising goal before our fundraising deadline tomorrow?
