For the first time in American history, a majority of Supreme Court justices were appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote (George W. Bush in 2000 and Donald Trump in 2016) — and last month, the Court’s majority ruled in Trump’s favor, giving him broad immunity for “official acts” he took as president.
