Before the end of the month, we wanted to introduce you to one of our most recent endorsements in arguably THE MOST KEY BATTLEGROUND STATE OF ALL: Kate Lennen, who is running for the State Senate in Pennsylvania.

Kate ran a remarkably successful write-in campaign during the primary earlier this year. Now that she won that primary, she will be running in the General election against a 16-year incumbent who is anti-abortion and anti-union. He is described as someone who votes based on whatever the Republican party asks of him. In other words, he’s in office as more of a destructive seat-warmer than a true Representative for his community.

PA Republicans have been vocal about their plans to bring an anti-abortion referendum if they win the majority this November – and, if they have the majority, the Democratic Governor, Josh Shapiro, would be unable to block it. In PA this year, EVERY RACE COUNTS. We must ensure pro-choice candidates win their seats and secure a majority.

This district is in desperate need of new leadership. Here is what Kate plans to do when elected in November:

• Pennsylvania ranks 31st in the nation with a grade of C for women’s reproductive freedoms. As a life-long advocate for women’s reproductive freedom, Kate vows to protect and advance women’s reproductive health and self-determination by ensuring only women and their healthcare providers are empowered to make those decisions.

• More than 80% of Americans support common-sense gun safety legislation. Kate will work to keep guns out of the wrong hands with universal background checks, established red flag laws, waiting periods, and a ban on bump stocks and high-capacity magazines.

• Pennsylvania has one of the largest gaps in educational spending in the country, which is especially noticeable in her Senate District 47. While Governor Shapiro has made progress in this category through his 2024-2025 budget, Kate believes there is still work to do to reduce disparities. Kate is determined to fight for more funding.

• Currently, the minimum wage in PA is still $7.25. Retail and service industry jobs are very often women who are not making enough to support themselves and their families. Kate knows how important it is to change that for women, families, and ALL workers in her state.

Her stances on these key issues speak for themselves. Kate has explicitly told us that she would work to stop the Republican plan to strip away reproductive rights and would introduce legislation codifying Roe v. Wade. The choice could not be more clear – but it’s going to take work, strategy, and resources to help Kate win.
