# LGBTQ employees who are out at work are three times more likely to have experienced discrimination

Our new report ([link removed])
finds that LGBTQ employees who are out to at least a few coworkers or their supervisor are three times more likely to report experiencing discrimination and more than twice as likely to report harassment at some point in their lives than those who are not out to anyone at work.

Over 8 million LGBTQ workers in the U.S. identify as LGBTQ. Nearly half (46%) of them are not open about being LGBTQ to their current supervisor, and one-fifth (21%) are not out to any of their coworkers.

# Miguel Fuentes Carreño presents research to the Mexican Census Bureau

On August 26, Miguel Fuentes Carreño, Ph.D., the Dorr Legg Policy Fellow and Research Data Analyst at the Williams Institute, presented findings from
our recent report ([link removed])
on nonbinary people in Mexico to the Users' Consultative Council of the Mexican Census Bureau. The report used data from the National Survey on Sexual and Gender Diversity (ENDISEG), a national probability survey of LGBTIQ+ people in Mexico, to examine the sociodemographic characteristics, stressors, sexuality, health care, and mental health experiences of nonbinary people in the country.

Following the presentation, Dr. Graciela Marquez, President of the Mexican Census Bureau, pledged to allocate funding for another round of the ENDISEG and applauded cross-cultural collaborations that enhance data collection methodologies and secure high-quality data on LGBTIQ+ populations.

The Associate will translate research into easily accessible content for lay audiences and create high-quality materials that showcase the Institute's scientific rigor.

Data Analyst

The Williams Institute is looking for a Project Policy Analyst to assist scholars in conducting public policy, social science, and public health research related to the mission of the Institute. Primary responsibilities include research and analysis of regulations and legislation, preparing written products (e.g., literature reviews, reports, manuscripts, grant proposals, fact sheets, graphics, and presentations), and coordinating project timelines, research materials, and data collection. The analyst will assist in the development of research protocols and study materials and prepare and administer human subjects protection protocols.

Judicial and Legal Education Director & Scholar

The Williams Institute is seeking an experienced director to lead the Institute's educational programming for judges, lawyers, law students, and the public. The Director will also be responsible for running three of the Institute's premier annual programs: the Williams Institute Moot Court Competition, the Dukeminier Awards Journal, and the Institute's Annual Update Conference. After the second year in the position, the Director will teach a course at UCLA Law focused on sexual orientation, gender identity, and the law.
