Friends,
Today marks three years since the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan. Since then, over 80,000 Afghan allies have been evacuated to the United States, yet nearly half of them remain in a legal limbo of humanitarian parole, with no pathway to citizenship. Congress can change this and uphold the promise we made to our Afghan allies by passing the bipartisan Afghan Adjustment Act ([link removed]) , led this year by the For Country Caucus Vice Chair Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks and with support from Democratic Co-Chair Jason Crow.
The Afghan Adjustment Act would put Afghans who are already present in the United States on an expedited path towards permanent residency, and would require the State Department to prioritize expediting the visa process for those we left behind. We are working on its passage this year along with a provision in the State and Foreign Operations spending bill co-led by our Senate ally, Senator Roger Wicker, to extend the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program through 2027, and to authorize an additional 20,000 SIVs.
We produced this short video with Rep. Zach Nunn and Rep. Seth Moulton in the For Country Caucus, as well as our colleagues, Mahnaz Akbari, Commander of the Afghan Female Tactical Platoon, and U.S. Army Veteran Rebekah Edmondson, who trained the Afghan Female Tactical Platoon.

Earlier this year, bipartisan veterans in the For Country Caucus helped secure an additional 12,000 SIVs; the largest single-time increase in visas since the program was established in 2009. Rep. Jason Crow, Rep. Brad Wenstrup, and others in the For Country Caucus helped lead this to passage. You can read more about our ongoing efforts to support our Afghan allies HERE ([link removed]) .
