John, Thank you for your commitment to progressive change here in the Texas 10th Congressional District. In 2018, I was the Democratic nominee for Congress in TX-10, and I ran to hold the Republican incumbent accountable: accountable for his complicity with Trump administration atrocities; accountable for his attacks on health care, the environment, and human rights; accountable for his refusal to even meet with his own constituents. We ran a strong campaign last year, narrowing Rep. McCaul’s previous 19 point advantage to only 4 points on Election Day. Now, as 2020 approaches, I’m running again to finish the job. I’d be honored to have your support as we flip this District and show the people who live in these nine counties what real representation looks like. My background is as a public school teacher and civil rights lawyer, and I’ve been serving the public for 20 years, working for equal opportunity and social justice. As an educator, I worked to fulfill the promise of the American Dream: the idea that everyone, no matter what family you were born into, no matter your wealth or status, has the opportunity to live a safe, prosperous and fulfilling life. And as a lawyer, I’ve been an advocate for folks without a voice, fighting against unjust laws and holding employers accountable when they mistreat their workers. I want to bring that same commitment, for opportunity and justice, to the people of the Texas 10th. Our goal is to run a people-powered campaign – no funding from corporate PACs, but lots of support from regular Texans who want their representative to fight for what matters most. Healthcare care and good jobs; clean air and clean water; accountability for corrupt officials; and common decency and respect instead of hate and division. I am glad you will be joining us in this critical work for Texas and for the American system of democracy. Our government only works when the people are engaged and hold our elected officials accountable. I am committed to showing this district what real representation looks like. With love and respect, |
