To celebrate this endangered species, I want to share one my favorite facts about these gentle giants with you.
FACT #1: Whale sharks aren't whales.
Despite their name, whale sharks aren't whales. However, like their mammalian counterparts, they are large. In fact, they’re the largest sharks—and fish—in the world, reaching up to 60 feet in length.
