VIDEO OF THE DAY: JD Vance mercilessly booed at his own event
You know times are tough for JD Vance when the events he CHOOSES to attend go this poorly. Firefighters — the very big, tough, strong guys Trump so badly wants in his corner — mercilessly booed Vance throughout his speech on Thursday at an International Association of Firefighters conference in Boston, ratcheting up their disdain to peak levels when MAGA world's servile No. 2 laughably claimed that he and Trump are the most "pro-workers Republican ticket in history." It's obvious who actually is the most pro-worker ticket when you realize that Tim Walz spoke to these same firefighters a week ago...and got cheers instead of boos!

Trump bizarrely claims people have stopped eating bacon because of wind power
During a campaign stop in Wisconsin yesterday, the disgraced ex-president was asked by a young rally-goer what Trump's plan is "to make life more affordable and bring down inflation for someone like me." The convicted felon admitted, "It's probably the question I get most," then proceeded to definitely not answer the question by whining about...bacon and wind power. "You take a look at bacon and some of these products, and some people don't eat bacon anymore." And the word salad did flow: "And we are going to get the energy prices down. When we get energy down — you know this was caused by their horrible energy. Wind — they want wind all over the place." Still with us? The 78-year-old grievance machine continued, "You know they say you gotta vote with your stomach, I don't know if you've heard it but it's a little bit true." The MAGA faithful sure as hell aren't voting with their brains, so we guess he's right to appeal to their guts?

Back to school season reminds us it’s time to get serious about reading
Reading Is Fundamental: It’s 2024, and only 47% of American kindergarten students are reading at grade level. If we’re ever going to fix this crisis, we need kids to start reading early and reading often! That’s why Reading Is Fundamental is launching a national movement for everyone to get involved, raise awareness, and get kids reading! Will you add your name to pledge your support for children’s literacy in America?
Kamala Harris defends policy stances, shares plan for office, shuts Trump's racist bullshit down in first major interview
Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz sat down for their first official interview since formally accepting the Democratic Party nomination to lead the ticket, and the pair passed the media-hyped "test" with flying colors. Harris calmly defended her shifts on certain policy issues over the years and reiterated her support for President Biden, with whom she has served for nearly four years. And when the conversation inevitably turned to Donald Trump, Harris took clear command. When CNN's Dana Bash asked the vice president about the MAGA cult leader's incredibly offensive and downright racist claim last month that she "happened to turn Black," Harris confidently responded, "Same old tired playbook. Next question please.” Bash asked, “That’s it?” Harris replied, “That’s it.” And THAT, folks, is how you shut down the disgraced ex-president's racist, misogynistic bullshit.

Trump threatens Mark Zuckerberg with prison for "the rest of his life" in upcoming book
This is a totally reasonable thing to publish in a book and in no way the delusional ravings of a vengeance-fueled madman who has openly promised to govern like a dictator from day one of a second presidency. Super normal, not weird stuff!

Father of fallen soldier slams Trump over Arlington stunt
The father of a US Army soldier killed in 2004 and buried in Arlington National Cemetery is questioning what Donald Trump hoped to gain by visiting the venerated final resting place of US service members. Khizr Khan’s son, 27-year-old Army Captain Humayun Khan, was killed while serving in the Army in 2004 and was awarded a Bronze Star for his actions. The disgraced ex-president and a campaign entourage "toured" the cemetery on Monday, posed with the family members of Marines who died in combat for photos at their loved ones' graves, and conveniently brought a film crew along to shoot a campaign commercial — in direct violation of Pentagon policy, of course. Khan, you may recall, spoke at the 2016 DNC and castigated Trump at the time for serving no one and nothing but himself: "Go look at the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America — you will see all faiths, genders, and ethnicities. You have sacrificed nothing and no one." That one still holds up.
Harris says appointing a Republican to her Cabinet would "benefit" Americans
During her sit-down interview on CNN yesterday, Kamala Harris said she would appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if elected in November. Asked whether she had anyone in mind, Harris replied, "No, no one in particular in mind... We've got 68 days to go with this election, so I'm not putting the cart before the horse. But I would. I think it's really important."

Trans adults stripped of healthcare access sue South Carolina over GOP bill
Transgender residents of South Carolina have sued the state over its ban on their healthcare, challenging one of the most restrictive anti-trans laws in the nation, which has stripped youth and adults of access to critical medical treatments. For a party that incessantly preaches limited government and personal responsibility, Republicans sure do love getting all up in other people's business, don't they? Please remember in November.
Trump amps up culture war agenda with Moms for Liberty appearance
The disgraced ex-president is scheduled to sit down for a "fireside chat" this evening with the anti-LGBTQ, book-burning founders of Moms for Liberty during the extremist group's national summit in Washington, DC. Trump has repeatedly tried to distance himself from the Republican Party's radioactive Project 2025 manifesto — authored by dozens of his own former staffers, of course — so we aren't sure how a marquee appearance at an ultra-conservative conference run by fascist crusaders is supposed to allay the fears of undecided voters who may not want to live in an Orwellian dystopia, but you do you, Donald!
Trump pleads with federal court to throw out hush money verdict in last-ditch attempt to avoid sentence
Donald Trump's lawyers pleaded with a federal judge to intervene in his porn star hush money case in their latest Hail Mary attempt to overturn the MAGA cult leader's conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Trump's team disingenuously argued that the case and evidence against him should be tossed out under the Supreme Court’s bullshit “immunity” ruling earlier this summer. The filing also resurrects other grievances and allegations aimed at Judge Juan Merchan and District Attorney Alvin Bragg that were previously dismissed in several courts. A separate federal judge has already rejected Trump’s claims that the allegations in the indictment against him were “official” duties that could be shielded from prosecution. Merchan is currently set to rule on yet another immunity claim on September 16, with formal sentencing scheduled to occur two days later. Time will tell.
America, the beautiful?
What a wonderful world?
