Our job, as the NDRC’s Finance Team, is to help the organization plan budgets, set fundraising goals, and determine if we have the funding we need to accomplish what we’ve set out to do. 

When we build budgets with our leadership team and decide what type of programming we can afford, we use projections based on what we have seen previously. Typically, our organization sees a spike in donations around the end of the month — so we build that into our financial projections. 

That means our budgets are planning on a certain amount of funding to come in around the end of this month. If we don’t hit this end-of-month goal, we miss our financial targets.

We just took a look at where we are. We’re asking for 6 donations from District Of Columbia today to stay on track. Can you help us get there by making your first $5 donation?

The work you are doing alongside the NDRC is ambitious and urgent — which means it relies on hitting ambitious and urgent goals. Electing Democracy Defenders in state-level, down-ballot races across the country is no small feat. 

If we miss our financial targets, that could mean we have to schedule a meeting with NDRC leadership to make difficult choices about our budget.

We’re doing everything we can to make sure we can fund the work you’ve set out to do. We’re so grateful for your partnership in getting this all done. But being just about nine weeks from Election Day, there’s not enough time to make up for any missed goals.
