Congressman Sessions and Dr. White

It is back to school season! On Monday, I dropped by Sam Houston State University to wish the president of SHSU, Dr. White, and the Bearkats good luck on their first day in classes. Sam Houston State is a university of high academic standing, offering over 90 undergraduate degrees. I am excited to see where these students will take the future of Texas and our country. Remembering Abbey Gate

The fallen heroes of the Abbey Gate terrorist attack

This Monday solemnly marked three years since 13 heroic US service members lost their lives in the Abbey Gate terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan. Their names are: Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Sgt. Nicole L. Gee, Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Cpl. Daegan W. Page, Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, Navy Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak, and Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss. Next month, Congress will present a Congressional Gold Medal to the Gold Star families of each service member. I am proud to have supported legislation to posthumously award these service members for their sacrifice and bravery. We will never forget their sacrifice and forever honor their memory.

Service Academy Forum

I would like to remind each of you to save the date for September 14, when my office will be putting on the 2024 Central Texas U.S. Service Academy Forum. This is a great opportunity for students, parents, and educators to come and learn about the admissions process to all five U.S. Service Academies. The forum will include an academy admissions panel, and congressional panel. There will also be opportunities to hear about the admissions process from parents, the Academy Board, and cadets/midshipmen. See here for more information.
