Team — August is coming to a close. Here’s a roundup of the hard work Mayor Bass has focused on this month:

In a historic moment at the Olympic Games, Mayor Bass became the first Black woman mayor to receive the Olympic Flag at a Closing Ceremony. While in Paris, Mayor Bass informed her work to prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games, including through new public transportation, sustainability and other improvements, in addition to her priority that all Angelenos benefit from the Games.

The safety of all Angelenos is a top priority for Mayor Bass. The Mayor recently announced the expansion of mental health safety programs to more neighborhoods through the CIRCLE program. The CIRCLE program confronts the mental health crisis head on with lasting solutions, and frees up LAPD officers to focus on violent crime. Mayor Bass also announced hundreds of traffic safety improvements near schools as students, teachers, and staff returned from summer vacation.
Mayor Bass has been very clear – when crime happens, it must be responded to urgently, and those responsible must be held accountable. This month, Mayor Bass met with hundreds of residents in neighborhoods like Encino and Brentwood that have been impacted by recent home burglaries. LAPD is working to expand crime suppression efforts in these areas, and just yesterday, Mayor Bass joined law enforcement officials in announcing the arrests of six people on a 46-count indictment for facilitating a crime tourism group who engaged in burglaries, thefts, and other crimes.

Mayor Bass continues to urgently bring Angelenos inside. This month, Mayor Bass’s Inside Safe program housed hundreds and addressed encampments in Downtown, Hollywood, South Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Valley. Meanwhile, direct advocacy by Mayor Bass and the United States Conference of Mayors to the federal government led to a new policy change that will make more veterans eligible for housing and increase their housing options. This urgent work to save lives continues.

Finally, the Mayor is working to ensure that Los Angeles has a partner in the White House and to keep our country from going backward. She addressed last week’s Democratic National Convention and spoke of her nearly 20-year friendship and work with Kamala Harris.
Friend, Mayor Bass has big plans to deliver the change Los Angeles needs. It’s up to us to make sure she can continue her work to improve our neighborhoods, make us safer and grow our economy. Can we count on you to chip in $25 or more before our August end-of-month fundraising deadline this Saturday? [[link removed]]
