Hey everybody, it’s Rep. Jamie Raskin with a critical political message about Maryland’s future.

We need an overwhelming vote for Angela Alsobrooks as our next U.S. Senator.

Angela is the passionate champion of the people and the experienced public prosecutor who Maryland’s families need and deserve as our next Senator. I’ve been proud to be supporting her campaign and walking the streets with her for months.

But we need to talk about two other people you might be familiar with: Larry Hogan and Donald Trump.

Larry Hogan likes to position himself somewhere between the Democratic and Republican parties, but when he was asked if he would caucus with the Republicans, he just laughed and said, "Of course I am. I'm a lifelong Republican."

The problem is that this is not your grandfather’s Republican Party or even your father’s Republican Party. This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party.

Trump controls it completely. Either you follow orders like a sycophant or you’re completely out in the wilderness like Vice President Mike Pence, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney, the former Chair of the House Republican Conference.

With Larry Hogan, we’d just have another brick in the wall of support for Senate MAGA leadership like Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz or Josh Hawley—which is why Trump recently endorsed Hogan’s campaign for Senate and is promoting his campaign.

This is a momentous decision. If Larry Hogan wins, the Senate will flip red for MAGA. And that means we all lose. Maryland loses. America loses. American women lose.

That brings me back to the reason I’m reaching out today: I’m asking you to lend your support to Angela Alsobrooks, a leader with courage and conviction. A leader who’s committed to doing what’s right for Maryland—not for Donald Trump.

I’m committed to helping elect Angela to the U.S. Senate, but with right-wing special interests dumping millions on our state for Hogan’s campaign, it’s going to be a tough fight.
