Debunking 3 Common Child Trafficking Myths

When you hear the term “child trafficking,” what comes to mind? Perhaps you think of a child who is kidnapped and tied up against their will, especially in a different country. The reality, however, often looks quite different. 

 

Myth: Only girls are trafficked, and make up the majority of sexual exploitation victims.

Fact: The percentage of trafficking victims who are boys (17%) is nearly the same as the percentage of trafficking victims who are girls (18%)1

PACT Partners with G6 Hospitality to Offer
"The Room Next Door" Training

PACT is honored to team up with G6 Hospitality, the leading economy lodging franchisor and parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, to offer a comprehensive, survivor-informed training that addresses the pervasiveness and potential signs of human trafficking. “The Room Next Door” training will educate hospitality teams such as the front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance staff on how to spot the potential signs of human trafficking and how to respond appropriately.

The training will also share insight and expertise from hospitality safety and security professionals, a human trafficking survivor, and experts from nonprofit organizations focused on survivor support. “The Room Next Door” training is ideal for use in economy and midscale segments and independent owners, and for any organization looking to bolster their trafficking-prevention efforts.

PACT Presents Anti-Trafficking Initiatives at
United Nations Event

Last month, PACT had the privilege of presenting at a United Nations event as part of the United States Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). This professional exchange program seeks to build mutual understanding between the United States and other countries around the world. The event brought together 18 high-level delegates working in anti-trafficking in their respective countries. During this gathering, PACT’s Private Sector Engagement and Education teams shared a presentation on PACT, who we are, our mission, and our initiatives in private sector engagement and education.

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) Passes the Senate!

We are excited to share that the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) has passed the Senate! PACT advocates for stronger online safety laws to help prevent child sexual exploitation and enhance survivor protections, with our public policy team and Survivors’ Council leading efforts that focus on holding Big Tech accountable and addressing the harms that online platforms can perpetrate. We are proud to endorse this bill and have been involved in shaping its strategy.
