Team—

After Mitch McConnell said he’d prefer to let states go bankrupt than provide federal aid to support teachers and first responders, it went over horribly with just about everybody. Here’s just a sample of the reaction:

'Really dumb': Governors assail McConnell over bankruptcy comments - Politico
McConnell Delivers gut punch to his Home State, Dems say - The Daily Beast
McConnell's rejection of federal aid for states risks causing a depression, analysts say - The Washington Post
New Hampshire's GOP Governor slams McConnell over suggestion states declare bankruptcy: 'Ridiculous' - The Hill

Now, unsurprisingly, he’s trying to pretend he doesn't actually think - and didn't say - that states should go bankrupt. He's trying to gaslight the people of Kentucky. (The bad news for him: He said it in front of a microphone for all to hear, and we have the receipts.)

This wasn’t some slip of the tongue—it was another one of Mitch’s cynical attempts at a power grab. And we’re going to make sure voters know he was willing to sacrifice their well-being for a political victory.

The progress we make before tomorrow’s fundraising deadline will decide a lot about how effectively we can hold Mitch accountable—if you can, will you chip in right now?

Tomorrow’s deadline is especially critical for our campaign because we’re now functioning as a 100% virtual operation—and we’re relying on online donations more than ever before.

This race is as close as Mitch has seen in his entire career—it’s already a statistical tie in the polls, and we just leveled the field in fundraising. It’s no wonder he’s scrambling to walk back his disastrous comments, and it’s no surprise he’s spending big time during this crisis, patting himself on the back and taking jabs at Amy. These attacks and lies are only going to get worse. And we need to be ready.

We’re grateful every day for how this team steps up, especially at the most critical moments of this campaign. If you can, will you chip in before tomorrow’s deadline?

Thank you,
Sannie Overly
