days, millions of Americans will be expected to make rent payments after
losing their jobs.

How? We’re in the middle of a massive economic crisis, and it’s only
getting worse by the week. Every Thursday, we hear of another few million
Americans who’ve lost their jobs due to the virus and this
administration’s meek response to it.

This is why Tim Ryan and I are fighting so hard for recurring cash
payments to every American family — because we need to be rising to the
severity of this crisis, not handing out millions to big corporations.

Look: there’s bipartisan support for these measures. Republicans and
Democrats recognize that people are hurting. This white house needs to

Experts have said that our plan to send families at least $2,000 every
month would help prop up local economies and small businesses for at least
another 6 months. That’s critical time that could keep mom-and-pop shops
alive long enough to weather this crisis.
