This KCDHH position intends to replace a departing incumbent position after a transition is completed. This position serves in assisting KCDHH Executive Director and functions as primary front office contact person. This position also provides support for coordination of services and processing registration for interpreters/communication access services, including data collection as well as to generate reports to support decision making of KCDHH. This position also assists with budget, purchasing/contracts, requesting payments, receipts of fees, and tracking all financial activities of KCDHH.

Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Knowledge and understanding of Deaf Culture, communication accessibility and communication options, and assistive devices and/or accessible technology
Preferred Qualifications: One or more of the following:
Background in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Government or Public Administration, Public Policy, ASL and Deaf Studies, Interpreting, Disability-related or Rehabilitation Services
At least four years of administrative experience with program and/or service coordination related to interpreting, communication accessibility, case management or Deaf/Hard of Hearing services related fields
Credential in interpreting
Understanding of function of state government functions in operation with programs and services to the public
Good understanding of how interpreters/communication access services providers are trained, qualified, certified or registered
Experience with fiscal/budget or legislative process

Mental Health Matters: Exploring Workforce Mental Health Policy Options
At the recent legislative summit of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) in Louisville, Kentucky, ODEP?s State Exchange on Employment & Disability cohosted a peer-to-peer exchange on mental health policy. ODEP Assistant Secretary Taryn Williams opened the session with remarks on the importance of mental health?friendly policies, programs and practices. Informed by NCSL?s Mental Health in the Workforce Toolkit, Williams and legislators from across the country engaged in a rich discussion on expanding workplace care and support, especially among diverse communities.

Many organizations are using artificial intelligence (AI) to screen job candidates, streamline the application process and monitor employee actions. But when AI technologies are not designed or implemented with diverse users in mind, they can increase the risk of workplace discrimination, including for people with disabilities. The AI & Disability Inclusion Toolkit, developed by ODEP?s Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT), can help businesses mitigate discrimination and reduce bias in their AI technologies and learn how to make AI implementation more equitable.
