Washington Update |April 29, 2020
Dear Alaskans,

As you know, the CARES Act was recently passed by Congress and signed into law by the President. This legislation was designed to provide immediate relief to Americans who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CARES Act included economic impact payments, expanded unemployment insurance, relief for small businesses, and funding to prevent and treat COVID-19. The CARES Act included the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which helps Alaskan businesses stay open and keep employees on payroll. I am pleased to share that following a PPP funding lapse, Congress replenished the program and businesses may now resume applying for this vital assistance.

Congress continues to consider future COVID-19 relief packages, and I wanted to take the opportunity to hear about your experiences with the CARES Act, and to find out how I can best fight for you in future legislative efforts.

Alaska has taken its first steps toward safely re-opening our state's economy. Once it is safe to do so, we must re-open the entire country and ensure it is firing on all cylinders. When the time comes, we'll need to make sure that our economy – from our supply chain to our workforce and business owners – is ready to come back stronger than ever. In the survey below, please let me know the timeframe in which you believe our economy should re-open.

As always, don't hesitate to contact me by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Don Young
Congressman for All Alaska
