Hi Friend,
This morning while making calls, a
supporter asked a great question: How are we able to keep our
elections secure from foreign and domestic threats?
Over my nearly 30-year career
managing and overseeing elections, I have gone from developing an
audible paper trail for mail-in balloting and using technology to make
elections more accessible, to building a cutting-edge cybersecurity
team. Those years of work have helped make Washington’s election
system a model for the rest of the country.
We have paper ballots, counted with
air-gapped tabulation equipment that is not connected to the internet.
Our statewide voter registration system was designed with robust
firewalls and monitoring systems to prevent and detect intrusion
attempts. We have developed plans to respond and recover in the event
of an attack. Finally, we have built strong partnerships with state
and federal agencies who specialize in cybersecurity to test and
evaluate our systems and train election administrators.
As we work with county election
officials across the state to prepare for the fall elections in this
COVID environment, we are also helping other states implement secure
mail-in voting options for their voters.
To continue to do this important
work, I need to win in November. Tomorrow is the end of the month—if
you can believe it—and I’d really appreciate your show of support.
Can you make a donation to my re-election
campaign today?
