Nebraska's state parks are your ticket to fun in the outdoors. This Labor Day weekend, indulge yourself in beautiful trails, great camping and opportunities for fishing and wildlife viewing.
Several parks are hosting special events during the holiday, such as Fort Hartsuff [ [link removed] ], Indian Cave [ [link removed] ], Fort Atkinson [ [link removed] ] and Platte River State Park [ [link removed] ]. Don't miss it!

Various hunting seasons to open Sept. 1
Fall hunting season is here, and hunters will be taking to the field Sept. 1 for a variety of season openers, including prairie grouse, dove, early teal, archery deer and archery bull elk. Will you be one of them? Buy a permit online and join in the thrill of the chase.

Upland bird hunting prospects optimistic
Positive surveys and field reports point toward a more optimistic outlook for Nebraska upland bird hunting seasons this fall. "With improved habitat conditions, good production is expected,” said Bryan O’Connor, upland game program manager for Nebraska Game and Parks.

Game and Parks soon accepting wildlife viewing grant proposals
Starting Sept. 2, Nebraska Game and Parks will accept applications for Watchable Wildlife Grants. These grants support projects that seek to develop wildlife observation and nature-based experiences in Nebraska. This could include wildlife viewing blinds or decks, engaging pollinator gardens, binoculars and field guides for visitors, wildlife viewing events and more.
