THE WEEK's BIG 3

ADL submitted more evidence in the lawsuit against the Santa Ana Unified District, which is accused of excluding Jews from school board discussions, specifically about their ethnic studies curriculum. A knife-wielding man on Long Island, who had his face covered, was the first person arrested under the new anti-masking law in New York. There were several incidents of antisemitism in Europe this past weekend, including a deadly knife attack in Germany and an explosion outside a French synagogue.

Read on for more on these headlines, news you can use to fight hate and the latest info about ADL from around the country.

Jewish groups file more alleged evidence of antisemitism against Santa Ana Unified

“A group of Jewish organizations that are suing the Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) filed a motion to add more alleged evidence to bolster their claims that the district violated California’s opening meetings laws to exclude the Jewish community’s input in approving the ethnic studies courses.” (READ MORE: NBC News LA)

+ADL Tweet: New evidence in our lawsuit against Santa Ana Unified District further reveals antisemitic intent and shows how the Board kept proposed ethnic studies courses “under the radar,” even suggesting holding meetings on Jewish holidays to prevent community comment, referring to Jews as “oppressors” and “racist Zionists.”

+ADL CA Tweet: “The antisemitism that infected this process sent a clear message to Jewish students and families that their voices are not welcomed,” said James Pasch, ADL's Senior Director of National Litigation.

+JG Tweet: This is the impact of ADL and our partners: Bringing evidence to light about a California school district’s intent to exclude Jews from critical school board discussions. We’re fighting in the courts to protect all students from antisemitic lies infusing the classroom.

Weekend marred by antisemitic incidents across Europe

Explosions rock a synagogue in France; a man captured on camera wearing a Palestinian flag and carrying a Molotov cocktail is identified as a suspect and arrested. A knife attack in Germany kills three people; police arrest an ISIS-inspired suspect who claims he committed the crimes "to avenge Muslims in Palestine". A political party in Italy publishes a blacklist of 100+ Italian Jews, labeling them as "Zionist agents" to be "condemned and fought."

+JG Tweet: Just another weekend in the world. But sure, Jewish people are imagining all of this. We are mistaken. And anti-Zionism has nothing to do with the surging harassment and hate directed against our community.

KEY ADL SOCIAL STATEMENTS

  • Not a single Jewish or Israeli victim of terror was included in the United Nations' exhibit on international victims of terrorism. So we have to ask, when it comes to the United Nations, do Jews not count?

  • There's no better news to wake up to. Qaid Farhan al-Qadi was rescued by Israel's Special Forces after nearly a year in Hamas captivity! A few months ago, I had the honor of visiting Qaid's hometown of Rahat - Israel's largest Arab city, where innocent citizens were murdered on 10/7. I'm so relieved and overjoyed by this incredible news and join the Rahat community in welcoming Qaid home.

  • Although I couldn't be there, I'm thrilled to see our friend Montana Tucker shine at today's Marlins game. Montana has been a fearless advocate for Israel and Jews everywhere, especially since 10/7. Proud to see her representing the Jewish community - Mazel Tov on this honor.
