I'm going to Cooperstown, John!

Or at least, my hat is.

I was beyond honored when Explorers manager Steve Montgomery gave me a call to make an emergency start a month ago. But I was completely awe-struck when my childhood dreams came true and the Baseball Hall of Fame reached out and asked for my game-worn X's cap to display in cooperstown.

There was just one problem; a fire.

It's been a wild ride for the last month or so, but the craziest moment was when our team bus caught fire (while I was trying to get some shut-eye!). I rushed out with my teammates, leaving the cap behind. Fortunately, our wonderful General Manager drove back out to the site the next morning and was able to recover my newly crisped hat, keeping the Cooperstown-dream alive.

I couldn't be more grateful for the unique opportunity I have to represent my community on the mound and in the halls of the state legislature. In between starts and bullpen sessions, I'm fielding constituent calls, advocating for the needs of our community, and running for re-election. None of this would be possible without supporters like you, John. The baseball season will come and go, but the most pressing issues facing Iowans every day will remain. I'm counting on our movement to help keep this campaign going. Will you chip in $11 today to ensure that Iowans will continue to have a voice in the capital? [[link removed]]
